Ok guys so I've decided to kick this habit once and for all. I've been a heavy smoker for 4 years now and times are hard. I'd like to stop shaving off years from my life and save a ton of cash in the process.
So! I've decided to keep a record here of how it's going for anyone who wants to quit themselves to see.
Disclaimer: smoking is not big, and it's not clever. I regret starting, and almost everyone else who has the habit also does. Don't start =P
With that out of the way...
DAY 1
11/25/10
This was actually yesterday, but meh. Me and my mother are out shopping. She's been going through some hard times lately, so I try and keep her company.
Whilst there I made a pitstop at the pharmasist to buy some patches. They told me to start the next morning.
That night I was in two minds whether I could go through with it. Nevertheless in the early hours of the morning I stubbed out my last cigarette determinedly.
DAY 2
11/26/10
Today... Today has been hell. Hell in all its fury.
I woke up this morning coughing my lungs out for a smoke. I put my first patch on in hopes of quelling the need, but unfortunately for about the first hour it wasn't working. Oh boy, how I hate this already.
Oh, and I was late for work too >_>
I'm still here now, typing this with my phone actually.
After a few hours without smokes earlier today it eased off a bit. I was still craving to run to the local store and buy a pack, but I fought that particular notion.
The patch itself is terrible. Even before leaving the house it was falling off at the slightest movement. I actually had to stick it to my arm with high-strength Duck Tape. Let's just say I ain't looking forward to tearing that thing off later...
Also, you know that aching feeling you get in your upper arm after an injection? Yeah, imagine having that for 16 hours a day >_>
Lastly, I'm not sure what's causing it, as I've tried other patches before and been fine, but earlier I was throwing up and feeling a little dizzy. This patch is the same strength as the last ones I was using, so I'm guessing it's a withdrawl symptom rather than a case of too much nicotine.
Long story short, after a day of non-smoking, three letters describe how I feel.
FML.
